1375. The Insomnia Meme
the i n s o m n i a meme
It happens to everyone - sometimes, you have nights where you just can't fall asleep, no matter what you do. It could be for a number of reasons, or no reason at all. And this is what's happened now: you've been laying in bed for what feels like hours, just tossing and turning, and nothing seems to help. So what's left to do? Get out of bed and go wake someone else up, of course. If you're not getting any sleep, then why should they?

• Post with your character (note the name and fandom in the subject).
• Other people reply to you by generating a number from 1 to 10.
• Have fun!

o p t i o n s

01 • FEAR. Maybe you're hearing strange, indeterminable noises; maybe there's a severe storm happening outside; maybe you watched a scary movie before bed? Whatever the reason, you're terrified and it's keeping you awake. You just want to wake someone else up so they can protect you from the monster in your closet.
02 • HUNGER. Your stomach is growling and it just won't stop. Or perhaps your throat is so dry you could cough up a tumbleweed? Well, you've gone to the kitchen to remedy this and hey, that was a pan that just dropped on the floor. It was loud enough to wake the dead! Oops.
03 • PAIN. Your body is completely worn out, be it from exercise, battle, sickness, or what have you. Either way you're in enough pain to keep you from sleeping, so maybe someone else has a home remedy or something, or can at least help you take your mind off of it.
04 • SOLITUDE. For some reason, your bed just feels so empty at the moment. You're feeling terribly lonely and really just want someone to keep you company for a while. Maybe it'd be easier to fall asleep if you're with them...
05 • DISCOMFORT. Your room is an oven. Either that or a freezer. Or maybe this bed is just really uncomfortable? Who knows why you can't get to sleep, it feels like it could be anything. Why even bother trying? Maybe someone else can preoccupy you until you feel tired enough to ignore your discomfort.
06 • PENSIVE. Something's on your mind, and no matter how hard you try to focus elsewhere, it's just not going to work. Your body may be tired, but your mind is incredibly busy and it's virtually impossible to get to sleep. Surely, talking it out with someone else will help?
07 • SADNESS. Something terrible has happened that day, perhaps; or you could just be severely depressed. Either way you're trying your hardest not to cry yourself to sleep, and it's not working at all. Better find a way to get it out of your system somehow; you need a shoulder to cry on.
08 • ANGER. You are just... fuming. Who knows why - that annoying dog is barking again, or maybe the people next door are getting busy and keeping you awake. Whatever the reason for your ire is, you'd better put an end to it so you can get some damn rest already! Go wake up a friend so you can complain to them.
09 • RESTLESS. You're far too energetic to sleep right now. Maybe you're just trying to do so out of necessity - you have to be up early tomorrow! But you just don't think you'll be able to fall asleep for a while now, so why waste the time trying to sleep when you could be doing something else? Namely bothering someone else - you're totally jealous because they're getting more sleep than you.
10 • WILDCARD. Choose one of the options above, or make up your own scenario.

I hope you don't mind OCs and I hope this works for you. I rolled 5.

Sleeping wasn't going too well for Cammie. She'd been tossing and turning for over an hour. It probably had something to do with big city noises and her spending the last few years in the middle of nowhere or maybe sucky hotel beds, but she didn't really want to go around rationalizing every little thing. So, instead of laying awake in bed, staring at the ceiling and wondering 'why the flip can't I sleep?' the young woman got up and climbed up the fire escape to the top of one of this city's buildings.

There was probably some rational saying that it was a bad idea to stand on sky scrapers in cities with high crime rates while only wearing pyjamas, but who could complain when the view was gorgeous. Sparkling lights for buildings and cars whizzing by. Twirling around, the woman decided to be silly and yelled out, "I'm the queen of the world!"

I love OCs!

"I take it you're not going to jump," he begins. She won't see him until she finishes her twirl. One minute, the corner ledge of the building's rooftop is empty (like it should be at two in the morning), and the next, he's there. Red suit, domino mask, utility belt, Tabi boots, hood and all. He would look menacing if not for the fact that he's so young. Or at least, the lines of his face are still youthful. Couldn't be over twenty-one, if she was good at guessing ages.

Yay~! :D Nice to meet you, by the way.

She does jump up when she hears the noise, but then laughs it off. Looks like she isn't the only insomniac here. "Nope. I can't fly, which is really too bad." She then looks around, to see who her current companion is and blinks. He looks like someone out of a comic book. "I'm guessing you're not up here because you can't sleep..." Is the only thing she can think of to say to this man. Cammie doesn't bother to try and guess ages, more as a curtesy than anything else. Sometimes, people still think she's fifteen and she's twenty three.

Same! :)

"In this city, seeing someone teetering on the edge of a building usually means I'm needed," he says. There's a half smile on his face, kind of wry, because he can tell, now, that this girl isn't in any kind of danger. From below, he'd obviously thought different, thankful for the slow night so that he had time to get up to save her, but it turns out, she doesn't need much saving.

"Everything okay besides the fact that you can't sleep?"

She smiles sheepishly. "Sorry about that. I'm uh... in a really silly mood." A real life superhero. Wow. Then again, she had a "superpower" if you really wanted to call it that. Superheroes weren't a stretch at all.

"And yup, everything's a-okay." Cammie playfully salutes him. "If you need to get going, uhm, I'm fine. Not that you gotta leave! It's a free roof and all that. Good view too."

Re: :)

His smile grows. A little lopsided, one side a tad higher than the other. Standing to his full height, he watches her. Maybe she really just can't sleep, but he's got a gut feeling that tells him to stick around and make sure. After all, she could be trying to get rid of him so she can jump. He doesn't think that's the case, but a slow night in Gotham means he can hang around to find out.

"It is a good view," he agrees, glancing out over the city skyline. He gets to see it every night, but sometimes, it's nice to take a step back and remember it like this.

She smiles back, it's wide and friendly. She definitely doesn't look like a woman who'd jump off a building... at least, not without a bungee cord.

"It's really weird how these big, dangerous cities have some of the nicest views." She yawns and stretches. "Oh, by the way, I'm Camilla. What's your name? Well, code name? Guessing you got a secret identity and all."

"Robin," he says, nodding to her. Okay, maybe he's just looking for something to go wrong, because Camilla seems pretty normal. Outside of the fact that she's awake and twirling on rooftops in the middle of the night, there's not much amiss. "Gotham's come a long way," he adds. "Trust me: it used to be way more dangerous." Or at least, he hopes he's done something to help it towards safeness.

"Nice to meet you, Robin." She leans against the ledge and rolls her shoulders back. "Now that just sounds scary..." The woman shudders. Her power, the ability to bring out a person's worst sins, also lets her sense how "sinful" people are. And Gotham is more loaded than most. "I'm guessing you Superheroes went and kicked a lot of ass?"
